Trailer for Season 2
Growing up I thought I would be an architect, work on Wall Street or be a doctor…so when I see a building I take notice of its outside, of course. I then think about the money that made it possible. I think about the invisible property lines, easements, and blueprints that define its structure…But then I want to know what’s inside. I want to know who was behind it, and how it came to be.
Don’t get me wrong, real estate is exhilarating even on a spreadsheet, BUT buildings are so much more than walls, windows, and income statements.
At their core they are shelter. We use that shelter to create relationships and families, to learn, and to work.
And the quality of these buildings - the design, construction, and location - have a big effect on our ability to make a success of what we do inside. Whether it’s an office building or warehouse, medical lab or mixed use redevelopment, our built world is a key part of a healthy society.
That’s why we were excited to create Built. Our show takes our cities and communities and makes them personal again. It highlights the individuals behind the visible structures we use every day. Season One reminded me that there is so much more to their stories than I could ever have guessed.
The people of Built have different backgrounds, goals, and journeys. But they all found themselves developing our Built world, each in their own way.
Join me, Brian Maughan, for season two of Built. Coming soon.
